This has been an exciting and productive year.

VRAC researchers lead one of ISU's new initiatives, Human Computer Interaction. Significant accomplishments include the development of an HCI graduate program, which was approved by the Iowa Board of Regents in July 2003, and the hiring of three new faculty. The HCI web site, www.hci.iastate.edu, provides more information. Giving credit where it is due, the HCI image used in the headers of this annual report and the the HCI web site was developed by Andres Reinot, a Computer Science undergraduate student working at VRAC.

You will also find articles highlighting the completion of a portable, re-configurable cave system and a summary of the hardware and software we use as part of our research, stories of student successes, descriptions of our ongoing research, and an overview of VRAC's outreach and economic impact.

I hope you enjoy this report. Send your questions or comments to me at bernard@iastate.edu.
