MS Dissertation title: Evaluation of sign language learning tools: Understanding features for improved collaboration and communication between a parent and a child

Area of MS research: The research objectives are to present tactics for designing a language learning system for deaf and hard of hearing children and hearing parents by (1) developing good design tactics for deaf and hard of hearing children and hearing parents, (2) performing an evaluation of three commonly used instructional tool designed to teach sign language, (3) creating awareness of Deaf culture, deafness and other stigmas a deaf or hard of hearing child may face in early childhood, and (4) developing criteria for features successful for improving collaboration and communication between a hearing parent and deaf or hard of hearing child.
