Title:  Graduate Assistant-Teaching/Research [IMSE]
Dept: Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engr

Affiliation:VRAC & HCI

Background: I came to Ames from Clear Lake, Iowa, to pursue a BS in Psychology. After exploring many options within the field, I decided I was most interested in the interactions between people and computers and the ways in which we can improve those interactions. Specifically, I wanted to explore options for improving the ways that computers can supplement teams, both face-to-face and virtual. I came to VRAC to pursue this passion under the guidance of Dr. Stephen Gilbert, who has experience researching teams. I have many broad interests, but am currently most interested in understanding ways to improve communication and conflict resolution for virtual teams, as well as understanding how to better support team diversity. Team and teamwork questions are relevant in both work settings and video game settings; I have interests in both domains. My long-term goal is to work as a researcher in industry or government, working to solve existing and future issues relating to team member interactions and technology's interactions within teams
