Drew has always felt his strengths were in math and science, and holds a great interest for areas in the engineering field, which is why he is pursuing mechanical engineering at Iowa State. His research interest is robotics.

Currently he is working with the Mitsubishi MoveMaster robotic units under the supervision of Mr. Greg Luecke.

His future goals are to gain experience in different fields of mechanical engineering along with basic skills such as problem solving. Through such experience he hopes to apply his knowledge to make a positive impact on society so as to promote further learning through the university and to help the community as a whole.

How his research will improve his candidacy for a job, Drew will have hands-on experience with the systems used along with a generally more open view as to how problems can be identified and overcome in new situations.

Drew's spare time consists of dismantling small store-bought systems and reconstructing them into new designs; multiple athletics and martial arts; being part-time lifeguard for the city of Ames.
