Ji is from China, earning his BS and MS in Biomedical Engineering there. He is pursuing his PhD in Agicultural and Biosystems Engineering with an HCI co-major under the direction of Lie Tang. His research interests are in robotics and machine vision. His current research focus is the weeding robot, which can be used to automatically get rid of weeds using machinery methods for organic vegetable farmers. It uses an advanced 3D camera and 3D image processing algorithms, which are currently being developed. Ji hopes that he can design some meaningful and useful robots and equipment in the future which can help farmers solve some practical problems at a low cost.
