Jay is originally from the Northeast where he received a BFA, Departmental Distinction, from Hartwick College in upstate New York. Since then, he has worked at Microsoft, a number of software startups, and for the last five years as Principal Designer at Nuance Communications in Seattle. Jay is primarily interested in user interaction design, usability and ethnographic methods, and the intersection of speech and gesture in mobile GUIs. He is interested in gaining more formal, academic design theory and applying these concepts in his professional career. Jay is planning to graduate with a Masterís degree, HCI, in 2014.
