IT Olympics

PI:  Doug Jacobson

Funding Agency: Various (see Notes)

Summary: IT-Olympics is the capstone event for students who participate in IT-Clubs in high schools across Iowa. IT-Clubs provide an avenue for students to gain access to learning materials from Iowa State University, experiment with provided equipment, and ask questions of IT professionals, university faculty, college students and other high school students. In the IT-Olympics, they have an opportunity to showcase the knowledge they have gained over the past year and compete against other high school students in the same field.
Teams from IT-Clubs across the state will compete in three different venues in which they have received instructional materials. Prior to participating in their venue, the teams must complete a community service project related to IT and submit a poster for competition describing their project. The three venues they will compete in the 2008 IT-Olympics are cyber security and cyber defense, robotics, and game design.
