I am a graduate student in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Iowa State University and a research assistant at the Virtual Reality Applications Center.

Research interests include Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Genetic Algorithms for optimization of fluid and mechanical systems.  This includes researching the use of genetic algorithms to speed up calculation times for CFD.  I have recently started investigating how techniques used in this area can be applied to biological systems.  Ongoing work includes the investigation into the effects of using graph theory to control the local mating rules for a searching algorithm.
