HCI Graduate Student Resources

Welcome, HCI graduate students, to your Canvas student resources page, including the HCI Student Handbook. This site was designed to centralize the information you need to excel in your HCI graduate degree program.

The Graduate College offers many resources for Iowa State University graduate students on its website.

Assistantships: All students admitted to the Ph.D. program receive a half-time graduate assistantship. The assistantship appointment requires you to work as a research assistant for 20 hours per week. Some MS degree students will receive an offer of graduate assistantship funding. You can learn more from the Graduate College website at this link.

Scholarships: Graduate assistants who are on appointment for at least three months each semester, or at least four weeks during the summer, receive a Graduate Tuition Scholarship. Other scholarships are on the International Student Office’s website and ISU Privately Funded Scholarships.

Loans: Most graduate degrees are eligible for student loans. The type and amount of the loan depends on your circumstances. Please get in touch with the Office of Student Financial Aid for detailed information regarding student loan options. To begin the student loan process, please complete the FAFSA.

This office works across the university to connect students with career coaching support and resources that empower them to achieve their professional and life goals. Benefits from a range of opportunities and services tailored to individual needs from the beginning of a student’s degree program through graduation and beyond!
